Some Beach Pictures!

This is the view from our top balcony... so beautiful!

Here are some pictures of the place we are staying! The house is called "Surfin' Safari" so the inside has a cool safari theme to it.

That's it for now! I'll post more later!

Just Quick

Ok, so I don't have much time right now because my family is downstairs and I want to spend as much time with them as I can, but I HAVE to tell you about where I am! I absolutely cannot wait to post pictures! Myrtle Beach has always stuck in my mind as a sort of trashy place, but apparently I was at the wrong end of the beach last time I came! I can't wait to load some pictures because my words will never do this place justice! We are in a 3 story house with a pool in the back. The front of the house has 3 balconies (one for each level), and it overlooks the ocean, which is one street away.

I am staying with 5 of my nieces and nephews, two of my sister-in-laws, their husbands, and our parents. Also my amazing husband of almost six months is here, but I probably didn't need to mention that. ;-) I just had the sweetest conversation with my sister-in-law Erin. It's so nice to be able to catch up. We talked about our calling in ministry and our motivation. It's frightening how easy it is to try to accomplish good things for your own exaltation. We also talked about being a newlywed, and she really encouraged me and reminded me that being a wife is my first calling now. She made me feel like I am doing a good job, and I really needed to hear it.

Today we drove here, unpacked, and headed off to the grocery store to buy our week's supplies. What a chaotic event! We left satisfied at best, but a little scatter-brained and very tired! Tomorrow it's to the beach!

Now I hear David playing songs on his guitar with his mom on the porch, so I think I'll join them! Sleep sweet everyone!

Catching Up!

Wow! So many months have flown by since I started this blog! Where are they all going? After talking to a close friend I realized yesterday that I really want to try to keep up with this blog more. Living away from my family can be hard, and sometimes I find myself wondering if they even know me anymore. This is such a good way to express the small stuff in life. So, on behalf of my new endeavor to actually keep a blog... here's to catching up! Also, do you like my new haircut? :)

Here are some recent events!

Rook!

I LOVE Rook! David recently taught me to play and I have been practicing for at least a month so that I can beat his family during vacation! It's been such a blast.

Open Door Church Worship Conference!

David was invited to speak at Open Door Church in Suffolk, VA for a worship conference last weekend! You can hear his sermon on this web site: http://www.odcsuffolk.org/.
I was so blessed by the entire church family, and David did an amazing job conveying a message of authenticity amongst believers. I can't believe I am married to such an amazing man of God!

While we were in Suffolk I hopped over to VA beach to visit my friend Jess who is pregnant with her first baby! We giggled and caught up for hours and it was so amazing to see her. She is literally glowing with excitement, and I can't wait to meet her little girl when she arrives! I'm still kicking myself for forgetting to take a picture of her and her growing belly! Here is a picture of the view from her new apartment though... it is literally breathtaking! Right on the Ocean complete with swimming pool and tennis courts! Yeah... I think we'll have to visit there for longer next time! :)

I am somewhat obsessed with sunsets, and on the way home from the conference we witnessed one of the most beautiful ones I have seen. We both sat amazed while I snapped way too many pictures. I mean, seriously though... wouldn't you? It's really such a shame though... the picture doesn't even come close to doing it justice.

Some other random recent events:

I just watched Sleepless in Seattle for the first time. It was so incredibly romantic in such a 90's sort of way. I loved it. David told me he would fall asleep but I'm pretty sure he got into it more than I did.

We also wrapped up the final season of 24, which was our all-time favorite show. Jack Bauer never let us down, and the show went out with a great bang. We loved it.

That's some good catch up for now! David and I are off to the beach for the week! I'm going to take my computer and try to update with some beach pictures this week! Wait till you see David's new bathing suit. It's completely retro and it makes me laugh, but it looks so good on him! Here's a hint: It sort of matches these:

Like a Child

Is it really May 11th, 2010? Have I really been married for almost five months? Life seems to be sweeping by me at a lightning speed. I'm learning more about obedience to the Lord every day it seems. He really doesn't ask us to accomplish more than we are capable of. He mainly asks us to be still and allow His presence to envelope us.

The more I grow up the more I realize that I don't know very much at all. This seems to suit me just fine, and in fact, I hope that as I grow in the Lord I become more like the child I once was. Children are carefree little things. They love with an innocence so sincere and lovely.

I don't know much about all of that, but I rest assured that daily the Lord is carving the disease of my sin out and replacing it with innocence and loveliness. Sometimes the outcome looks bleak and I begin to fear that maybe He never touched me at all. Have His healing hands really rested on my wretched soul? Has His lifeblood covered me entirely, or did it merely touch the sins that I knew about when I got saved? Who am I to question the love of Christ? Who am I to challenge His power? He is the great I AM who was and is and will always be. He knows every sin that I would never imagine exists within me, but His love went further still.

Lord, make me confident in You. I will seek you in the morning, for I am parched for truth. I will meditate on your goodness, for apart from You there is no good. I will soak myself in Your presence, because You promised that when I seek You with my whole heart I will find You.

"One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple." -Psalm 27:4
