A Recipe I made up!

So this is not a cooking blog at all, but I made up a recipe the other night that I thought turned out so great and I wanted to share it!

I don't even know what it's called (it probably exists already), but I've been calling it an Italian Sausage Pasta Dinner.

Here's what I did:

Italian Sausage Pasta Dinner

Ingredients:
1 Package of Beer Bratwurst Sausages
1 Zucchini Squash (chopped into 1/4ths)
1 Green Pepper (chopped small)
1 Onion (diced)
Green Onions
Crushed Tomatoes (or 1 or 2 tomatoes chopped up)
White Wine
Olive Oil
Basil
Italian Spices (oregano, parsley, etc.)
Salt
Pepper
Light Italian Salad Dressing
Pasta (I happened to use Radiatore)

Directions:

Begin heating up water for the pasta.

Slice Bratwursts into bite sized pieces and begin to sauté

In a separate pan add onion, pepper, and green onions with some olive oil and begin to sauté.

Once onions and peppers are soft, add zucchini and spices (stir) and cover pan with a lid.

When the zucchini is almost done, add crushed tomatoes, white wine, and Italian dressing and stir until wine cooks off.

Serve over pasta.

It was really quick and easy, and I made it up as I went, but it was so good that I decided to write it down! Special thanks go to certain family members who are inspirations in the kitchen. ;-)

Dinner Didn't Show Up

This whole wife thing has been really fun, but sometimes I forget the basics. I feel bad because tonight I didn't even think about dinner for David. I ate a sandwich at 5, and David is now heating up his leftovers to eat for a "scrounge it up" dinner. He's not complaining, that's for sure, but I'm still left feeling like I didn't take care of him. I don't like that. To you long-time married people- do you ever feel like you just aren't doing a good job? It's nothing specific, really. I just have this fear of being a bad wife.

I want to be the best wife in the world. Part of being a newlywed is realizing you don't know anything, and that it's going to take a lifetime to learn a little bit of something. I think David and I both would say that we would like to know everything we need to know, but we are both discovering that part of marriage is learning, and learning creates some of the most memorable moments. Dinner may not be on the table tonight, but we're enjoying our time together!

A special note of encouragement to my dating and engaged friends:

I urge you to remain pure on your journey towards your greatest calling. Marriage IS worth the wait! Just because you love someone does not mean you belong to them or they belong to you. The covenant of marriage was designed for that-wait for your vows! May Christ ever be the center of your lives in every area.

The Moment You've All Been Waiting For...

Ok, so not really THE moment, but here's our bathroom, Mom! Ta-Da!!!

Decorating has been such a fun time. I love experimenting with things. I think David likes that I like to decorate too!

A New Post!

Apparently there are several people reading this, so I have some motivation to keep up with it! Thanks to my sister-in-law I also now know how to add pictures. Yes, I am that slow with technology.

A few of you have been wanting to see the house, so here are some pictures for your enjoyment!

Our lovely bedroom- incomplete without curtains, but it's a work in progress!

Our place settings with the chicken pot pie and butternut squash soup I made!

Our dining room with a peek into our kitchen... I thought a splash of red would be good for everyone.

And here is the red in all of its glory!

I'll be posting more pictures soon! Hopefully this works!
